Imagination
Over the last couple of weeks I have been on a journey of discovery regarding the purpose of a persons imagination. I read a quote on Facebook that stated "Worry is a misuse of your imagination". This really got me thinking...
In this world, we have been given the authority and power to be able to rule and to create the life we want to live. The biggest gift God gave us was free will and the ability to choose what we do with our life. Without free choice we would have been mindless creatures only doing what we were programmed to do. Free choice makes us unique, it causes us to love, hate or get angry. Free will is the main tool we use to shape who we are.
We can choose our values, our beliefs. We can choose who we marry and which people will we accept as our friends. We can choose a career and a hobby, We can choose where we can go on holiday and when we want to go. We can choose who we worship and which teachers we want to follow. Our free choice has endless possibility but I have a strong feeling that what we choose to think about and allow in our soul dimension has a massive effect on our life and the joy we experience on earth.
I have been a worrier all my life. I have always been thinking about what can go wrong, how it can go wrong and the damaging effect it will have on me. I must say that there were some incidents in my life that has caused me to think this way, A few bad things happened that caused me to always expect the worst. Why does a few bad situations in my past caused so much negative expectation? Why did I let 2 or 3 bad seasons dictate 10 or even 20 years of my life? Because I chose to let it... I accepted it as my truth and it took over. I accepted a lie that I was always going to suffer because of a short season where I suffered. Doesn't this sound insane? When I read that quote last week, I realized that I had been using my imagination to bring destruction instead of creating a great life.
It has been proven that as much as 85% of what we worry about, never happens. What?? 85% of the things we worry about is a waste of our energy, health, time and is causing us unnecessary stress. Worry is imagining situations that are going to go wrong in the future, whether it be in our personal life or at work. Finances are a big one and has caused many years of struggle in my own life. But here I sit today, Not black listed or with even 1 unpaid account. I could have used my imagination to think about the great things in life (Philippians 4:8) instead of imagining things that can go wrong that never did.
I want to urge you to go on from today and to imagine what can go RIGHT. Go and see future situations as successful and prosperous. Go and think abundance of life as God intended it. You have the choice to see things work out in a great and successful way or you can worry about everything, imagining it all as going to fail.
I challenge you today to start writing all your worries in your journal. When you are done writing a worry, write beneath it what the successful future outcome will be and keep on reading this positive outcome everyday until it becomes your reality.
When doing this, you are living in faith, because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. Imagination is faith being created, a positive expectation in the future greatness of our life.
